The results of the Alexander Nevsky All-Russian literary competition are now out

On 12 September, the feast day of the Sainted Pious Prince Alexander Nevsky, the Taleon Club was the setting for the presentation of awards to the competition winners.

The annual Alexander Nevsky literary prize is a national competition for creative works instituted by the Centre for Humanitarian and Business Collaboration public joint-stock company (St Petersburg) and Russia’s Union of Writers. The competition is intended to revive and maintain Russian citizens’ interest in the history of their homeland and its finest literary and poetic works. It is the founders’ aim that this competition should enhance the prestige of Russian literature and establish the significance and role played by the individual inthenationshistory. The prize has a vital function in the identification of the most talented literary works on the history of Russia and in popularizing historical literature in the country.

Competition winners

First prize — Sergei Viacheslavovich Perevezentsev for the book Tsar Ivan IV Grozny (Tsar Ivan IV, the Terrible).

Second prize — Oleg Nikolayevich Mikhailov for the book General Yermolov

Third prize — Sergei Pavlovich Kulichkin for the book Dusha i slava Port-Artura [The Soul and Glory of Port Arthur]

Winner of the “For Works and Homeland” special prize
Anastasia Alexandrovna Shirinskaya for the book Bizerta. Posledniaya
stoyanka [Bizerta. TheLastMooring]

Winner of the “Great Patriotic War” special prize
Alexei Viktorovich Timofeyev for the book Pokryshkin
